Payment Types Accepted: checks, cashiers/bank check, money order Description: INCREDIBLY RARE ANTIQUE 1893 MUSKET IN .32-40 CALIBER WITH FACTORY LETTER, ONLY 22 PRODUCED, #130XXX, MADE 1895! Total production of Marlin 1893 Muskets in all calibers was ONLY 31 made! Of these, 22 were made in .32-40 caliber. The Marlin letter confirms all and shows a shipping date of December 14, 1895, These are so rare that, while mentioned in Brophy's Marlin book, there is not a photo of one. I don't believe much is known about these concerning who ordered them or where they were destined (possibly a foreign government, prison or private arsenal), or how many might actually still exist today. This is an excellent example with correct full stock, two barrel bands, 30" barrel, carbine butt plate, sling swivels, ladder rear sight and cleaning rod. Like most carbines, this one has a full blued receiver with case colored lever. The receiver retains fine blue with some areas of even thinning and gray on the upper tang and excellent blue on the loading gate. There are some very small dings on the front edge of the receiver ring that are minor. The lever shows some fine case colors on the upper section near the receiver. the barrel retains fine lightly aged/thinned blue and shows some old and very light vice marked on the sides just at the forend juncture that you have to look carefully to detect. The forend and stock show normal light handling/scratches, but show much of the original finish, show no cracks or chips and has very tight wood to metal fit. The action is tight and the bore is bright and excellent! Only the front sight blade that pins front and rear is missing- the sight base is intact. A remarkable offering of a model that even the most advanced Marlin collections invariably lack!
