This is one of the hardest OSS shipped guns to find! A scarce Office of Strategic Services shipped Colt Detective Special revolver. Made during the 2nd World War and shipped to OSS in 1944. This 38 Special revolver has a 2" barrel. Comes with a factory letter confirming the barrel length and the shipping destination. Correct ordinance punch dot mark visible on LH of frame near the hammer. The Office of Strategic Services (OSS) was a wartime intelligence agency of the United States during World War II, and a predecessor to the Department of State's Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR), and the independent Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Pistols shipped to this branch are extremely desirable to collectors. This is a crisp gun with great mechanics and a shiny bore. The entire revolver has been refinished in nickel in the past. Some of the markings are soft as shown. The crane and frame have matching original serial numbers. Grips have moderate wear as shown. $50.00 insured shipping.
