Description:
This is one of Roy Weatherby's first rifles. Southgate meaning made in Southgate Calif.
The action is a Mauser action which was prior to the Mark V action. Over the years I have owned several of these fine rifles, in fact I must say that they are some of the finest rifles ever made.
This one, the 30-06 is among the rarest as most of the Southgate guns are in the Weatherby calibers.
The stock is a nice rich dark walnut with nice color, the checkering is all handcut, The bluing is still bright and shiny. The mating of the stock to the barreled action is just beautiful.
