Description:
This is a RARE Saskatchewan Diamond Jubilee Winchester Commemorative rifle. It’s a model 1894 lever action 20” carbine in .38-55 WCF caliber, NEW, in original box, unfired. Produced only in 1980 as part of the Winchester Commemorative rifle series, only 2,700 of this model were produced, and it was not offered for sale in the U.S. (Canada only). The metal finish on the receiver and barrel bands are pewter or silver toned, while the lever, trigger, hammer, barrel, magazine tube and butt plate are deep blue. The rifle features high grade walnut that has exceptionally nice hand checkered walnut. The left side of the receiver is engraved with a farming scene of wheat stacks with silos in the background to honor the farming industry in Saskatchewan. The right side of the receiver is scroll engraved with the dates 1, honoring the 75 years of Saskatchewan as a Canadian “Prairie Province”. There is a pewter or silver tone medallion in the right side of the stock with a farming scene, and underneath that it reads "Saskatchewan Diamond Jubilee 1". On the right side of the barrel (see PICS) is inlaid "Saskatchewan Diamond Jubilee", and the upper tang is marked "Model 1894 WINCHESTER". The rifle comes with the original Styrofoam box, with full color printed cardboard outer sleeve depicting scenes of persons/events created by noted western artist Joseph Ferrara that commemorate the rifle, and is in excellent condition. This is a rare commemorative model 94 rifle.
All of the WINCHESTER® commemoratives have special serial numbers as compared to standard production Model 94 rifles and carbines. Collectors recognize the lower serial numbers (single, two or three digit serial numbers) as more desirable and thus typically command a premium price. These rifles are identified on the Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) list of Curious and Relics and is sold as a Collector’s Item only.
