Description:
Serial #2638, .450 Cal., 6 1/4" octagon barrel with a very good bore that has mild freckling within the grooves. This is a rarely seen Webley wedge-frame revolver, so named because of the two-piece frame which is locked in place via a Colt-style wedge through the cylinder arbor. The topstrap/barrel retains 95-97% of the original bright blue finish, while the loading lever retains a commensurate amount of the original color case-hardening. The frame, has an overall plum-brown patina, but still has traces of original blue on the underside around the trigger guard. The cylinder has been lightly cleaned, and has a somewhat grayer patina than the frame. Additionally, there are some short stress fractures on the cylinder face around the edge (both at and between the chamber mouths). The checkered walnut grips are in fine shape with some minor flattening of the points, and a few small handling marks. There are no retailer or maker marks, but extensive English proofs are present. This is a fine example of a British Wedge-Frame, and would make a wonderful addition to any collection. Antique
