Description:
Serial #53980 (Reg. #2974), 6" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This handsome revolver has all matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, extractor, yoke, and barrel, and has retained 90-92% of the original blue finish on the frame and barrel that exhibits mild silvering at the muzzle, along the projecting edges, and has a moderate-heavy turn-ring on the rear of the reblued cylinder. The cylinder itself has a slightly purple-blue patina, with about 85-90% of the blue remaining. The hammer and trigger have a commensurate amount of the original color case-hardening remaining that has brightened along the edges. An original King front sight is fitted, the walnut Magna grips are correct, but numbered to a different gun on the interior, and are in fine-excellent condition with only a handful of minor marks and only traces of flattening to the points. The action locks up tightly and functions flawlessly. The revolver is housed in a correct two-piece blued box that has some flaking along the exterior, mainly on the cover, and no separations or tears at the corners. A 2021 S&W Factory Letter is included that lists a ship date of October 1, 1937 to the State Police, State House, Concord, NH. The letter also confirms the King front sight, and that it was one of 45 revolvers in the order at a price of $35.45 each. A facsimile of the company ledger pertaining to the order is also included, and lists this revolver by registration number. This is a splendid, police used Registered Magnum, and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
