VERY FINE CIVIL WAR COLT U.S. MODEL 1861 SPECIAL RIFLE MUSKET DATED 1864. .58 caliber with 40” rifled barrel dated on the tang”1864” and proofed at the breech, Lock stamped with date “1864” and the Colt address with “US” stamped above. Has see almost no use and is 100% original. Metal with nearly all the original military bright finish. Nipple and sight with much original blue. Stock with all the original arsenal dark oil finish and two very crisp inspector’s cartouches stamped opposite the lock. Perfect working order and very near mint bore. Really nice all original example.
