A Very Rare & Early U.S. Civil War Navy Issued, Marked And Inspected Sharps New Model 1859 Rifle In Nice Untouched Condition. Serial #42117, all matching numbers. All original and complete. The rare rifle has very nice metal & markings throughout. It also has nice edges on the metal. All of the metal on the gun has an even darkening natural patina throughout it. All screws are nice. The original wood is very good plus with nice edges. There is a small 1800's period repair in the wood on the top of the comb behing the butt plate. The wood stock has the very rare U.S. Navy Markings above the patchbox, "USN/I/F.A.R." There are very few Sharps 1859 Rifles known with these U.S. Navy Inspectors marks. Most Likely under 25. The action is tight and crisp. The bore is excellent and bright. This Is A Very Nice Looking Example Of A Very Rare And Desirable U.S. Civil War Navy Marked And Navy Inspected Sharps New Model 1859 Military Rifle!
