Description:
My Saginaw S.G. M1 Carbine was manufactured near the end of the 293,592 Saginaw S.G.production run but it was outfitted with the early M1 Carbine features such as the Dual Aperture Fixed Rear Sight ( Type 1 - S Stamp ), High Wood Stock ( RSG and correct Cartouche Stamps ), Tow Rivet Hand Guard ( RSG Stamp ), Barrel Band ( Type 1 with 3 weld scars ), and Operating Slide ( Type 2 - SG Stamp ); all of which are correct for this serial number rifle.
The barrel is stamped SAGINAW S.G. GENERAL MOTORS so faintly it takes a magnifying glass and good eyes to see it.  The barrel is not dated which is correct for Saginaw S.G.  Saginaw S.G. directly manufactured their own barrels and 15 other key components of their rifles. Only Underwood Elliot-Fisher produced more of their own parts.  The total number of M1 Carbines of all configurations for General Motors Divisions Inland and Saginaw (S.G., S'G'. and Irwin Pederson ) was 3,149,309 which is 51.46% of all M1 Carbines.
All of the parts of my Saginaw S.G. M1 Carbine are USGI correct for the serial number, production block, production date, part designation, and part series type as specified by the U.S. Ordnance Department.  I have validated this rifle's correctness by totally disassembling it and confirming the parts to be correct according to Roger Larson's book; "Comprehensive Guide - M1 CARBINE, by comparing the parts to text, part photographs, and part measurements.  There are several good reference books published with volumes of information about the M1 Carbine but my final source is Roger's book in order to remain consistent in my assessment.
Here are the parts of my M1 Carbine that I have inspected and logged onto two data forms and over 100 pictures which I will gladly send you upon request if you are further interested.
