Description:
SOLD  This revolver is a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber Chief Special Target rnModel 36 / Model 50 Target. It is serial number 392472 and was shipped from the factory on April 15,1976 and delivered to Lathrop Shooters Supply Company of Tucson, Az. Records show it was shipped with a 2" barrel, adjustable rear sight, nickel finish, and checkered walnut square butt grips. In factory terms this revolver is known as a Model 50. It is stamped Model 36 and was assembled from parts originally manufactured in 1965. Only three guns were built at this late date in this serial number series. Two were made in 1975 and this one "THE LAST ONE" was made in 1976. Read the Smith & Wesson letter for more detail on production. As you can see in the pictures this is a super nice revolver. Bore in the 2" barrel looks like new. The original nickel finish rates 99%+. Markings are clear and original. Action works perfectly and is tight. Grips are excellent and the fit is perfect. Checkering is still crisp. Both panels have the number 472 written on the top above the medallions. There is also another number stamped into one of the panels. The original box is included. The end label matches the revolver. Along with the box you will receive the cleaning rod, cleaning brush, cloth swab, and the sight adjustment tool. The plastic bag holding the extras has never been opened all the way. The cleaning rod has not been out of the bag, for whatever that is worth. This is a super nice package which also includes the Smith & Wesson factory letter from Roy Jinks the Smith & Wesson historian. Any flaw you see in the pictures are reflection and are due to my lack of ability..  Feel free to contact me for more pictures.  American Arms & Antiques item #2861.
