Description: THIS GUN HAS BEEN SOLD TO JERRY. THANKS. A spectacular Kimber of Oregon 82 S-Series .22 LR. The S-Series guns came out in November of 1981. This was Kimber's first production level foray into high-end rimfires and was done as a bit of test marketing to see how well the public reacted to a high grade gun. The S guns featured wrapped checkering, and ebony tip, a scalloped floorplate transition and a Continental style cheek piece. About 535 of the limited edition guns were produced in .22 LR and the response from the gun-buying public was so strong that Kimber then committed to producing the Super America model. Most of the S guns have reasonably tame wood, but some, such as this one, exhibit extraordinary wood. One very common problem with S guns is what is known as finish crazing. The cause of crazing is not allowing sufficient time for drying between coats of the sprayed-on finish. This resulted in cracking, muting and muddling of the finish in the undercoats. This gun was finsished without any crazing and is very well preserved as the pictures indicate. SOLD Rifle Caliber: .22 Long Rifle |
