Description: This Baker Gun & Forging Company Model Batavia Leader double side by side shotgun in 20 gauge is in good condition considering its 103 years old. The Baker Gun Company was founded in 1890 by Elias Baker in Batavia New York, with financing from L.C. Smith. The Baker Gun Co. later sold to H & D Firearms in 1919. H & D Firearms continued to produce Baker shotguns until 1923, but later shotguns were made by Crescent Firearms Co. with the serial numbers ending with suffix of 'F', as this one is. The Batavia Leader was made from 1919 to 1923. This Baker Gun Co. shotgun has 26" blue steel barrels which are in very good condition, with one rub mark on the RH barrel towards the muzzle. The steel receiver frame and lock-work is tight, with much of the factory case-hardened blue color still remaining. The factory walnut butt stock has use and rub marks and abrasions. This Batavia Leader shotgun comes with dark walnut checkered stocks and double triggers as part of the model standard.
