Description:
Listing and entertaining offers on this Winchester Model 1892 standard configuration rifle, caliber 38 WCF aka 38-40, having a 24" round barrel, full magazine, crescent butt with steel butt plate, plain trigger, plain walnut stocks, open sights, blued and case hardened finish. Serial number 172029 would have been manufactured and shipped approximately 1900.

Receiver and barrel are mostly a gray/patina mix with only 5% remaining, although the barrel has about 50% fine aged blue on the lower half that's protected by the mag tube. Likewise, the mag tube retains the same %50 fine aged blue with brighter blue in the upper half that's protected by the barrel. The action is smooth and the half cock safety functions properly. The fore arm is sound with no splits or cracks and tight to all metal. The butt stock has a tight 1" hairline split coming off the upper tang and has a filled swivel hole in the bottom, otherwise is sound and tight also. Both stocks exhibit typical nicks and dings expected of a 100+ year old rifle that's been used. The original German silver blade front sight with set screw is present. The rear sight is a later Winchester style with thumb print elevator. The bore has typical scattered light pitting from black powder use but is free of rings, craters and bulges. I'd say it's a 7 out of 10 as the rifling is consistent, and sharp in some places. All in all grades NRA Antique Good. Will make someone a nice shooter.

TERMS: Shipping to the Continental US States will be a flat $50 with insurance optional and additional if requested. We are registered with the CA DOJ and will ship to California!
