Description:
Make an offer...
Civil War period, certainly appears to be Confederate made blade and very well made item. One of the finest hand forged bowie knives I have seen and what looks to be a contemporary period scabbard. A massive spearpoint fighting knife, it measures, in the csabbard, just over 19 and 1/2 inches long, blade is just shy of 14 inches long and is slightly over 1 1/2 inches wide. The handle is 5 1/2 inches long. This could be a Boyle and Ganble made item as the blade is welded into the tang similar to their swords, just a guess.
The blade is a work of art beyong its purpose and would be a very effective fighting knife. The scabbard has a rawhide formed center with the tanned leather formed and sewn around that. There seems to be some small repair done to the leather in a couple of places but this does not detract from a very good condition and appearence. The pictures speak volumes about this fine piece. $50.00 shipping with tracking, insurance is additional. International shipping available, send address for that quote. Money orders receive immediate shipping, bank, personal checks must clear before shipping.
If you have any specific information on this bowie more than published here please let me know .Thanks, Mark
