Description:
23-1/4 inch round barrel chambered in 50-45 CF caliber. Correct Remington upper tang markings. Frame has turned silvery with a couple of spots of pin prick pitting. The right side of forearm bears the 'FCW' cartouche. "F.C.W." are the initials of inspector Frank C. Warner. Sights include a flip-up ladder rear and a blade front. Barrel retains about 70% thinning blue which looks like an arsenal finish turning a plum/brown. Carbine buttstock is shy at the wrist with a light coat of added finish. 5,000 of these were made between 1868-1869 by the Springfield Armory from receivers made by Remington. These are scarce in any condition.
