It began with an idea from Bill Ruger that the American shooter would love to get their hands on an American made Over/Under and Mr. Ruger began the journey to produce such a gun. In 1977, the Ruger Red Label was introduced to the world in 12 and 20 gauge configurations and chambered for 3" shells. Ruger had invested in advanced machinery to manufacture the shotgun and this allowed Ruger to produce machined receivers from solid billets at a competitive price. From the start, the Ruger company stressed mechanical innovation and safety and these shotguns soon became prized for their sturdy construction, incredibly tight lockup and longevity.

This fine early example has the sculptured receiver finished in timeless blue, its hammer forged barrels sport a milled rib and all complimented by wood with nice gentle figure. The shooter can determine which barrel to fire by means of a selector mounted on the tang. Strong timed ejectors ensure fast reloading and a trigger pulling at 3.1 and 4.1lbs adds up to a fast handling gun. The chambers accept 3" shells, the shot travels along mirrored bores. The gun exhibits a small amount of handling wear on the underside receiver edges, attesting to a gun that has been used for its intended purpose, adding to its character, that of well balanced movement and action! A great piece of American Ruger design, this gun is ready for its new home and pastures fresh.
