Description:
SOLD This is a Remington New Police black powder .36 percussion revolver in the original percussion mode. These were made in a relatively small quantity, and intended for those individuals who needed a compact revolver with a lot of power. This pistol has a 5 1/2" barrel and fits perfectly in a coat pocket or 1849 type holster. Manufactured from about the end of the Civil War through the early 1870's. During this period cartridge pistols were finding favor as a carry weapon and the vast majority of this percussion model was either converted to .32 rim fire or was made as rim fire pistols at the factory. That makes the percussion model of this revolver rare in the market. It's five shot and has safety notches in between the chambers. Indexes well and locks up tight. Barrel markings are crisp and clear. Small scrape on side of cylinder. While there are
always a number of 1858 Remington Army's available, few of these pistols come to market. Antique and may be shipped directly to buyers over 21 who may legally receive and possess a weapon of this type. Sold as a collector's item only, and as with all antique weapons it should be examined by a competent gunsmith prior to any use. A solid weapon with some real history. Trades possible!
