Description:
Extremely Rare Frankford Arsenal Colt .45 ammo. 12 round packet. Early Benet primed These dated packets were only made from Oct. 1873 to Aug.1873. This box dated Dec. 1873. This was the first month of actual Colt SAA shipments from the factory. These "Colt" marked boxes are "Pre Schofield" and the rounds are to long to chamber in the schofield. Later Frankford arsenal rounds marked "Revolver Ball" were shorter less powerful and could be used in either gun. Box although open is in very nice condition and the lid is present. The discoloration on the box is in part to the laquer finish applied to these at the factory to help in weatherproofing. Rounds are copper and show some corrosion on the bullets but are very nice. If there is any advantage to an open box its that you can see and enjoy the contents. This is a very rare box of original Colt .45 ammo and would be an incredible addition to any vintage Single Action or early ammo collection. 12 rounds 6 in your gun six in your pocket. $ 500.00 Shipping is free.
