Description:
For your consideration, a Colt Lightning slide action rifle in .38-40 Winchester Centerfire. While never as popular as their competitors' lever actions in the old west, Colt's slide action repeaters have become highly collectible pieces. On this example, the pump handle is smooth with double line bordering, possibly added at a later date. A plug or repair of unknown material and purpose is present in the left wrist of the stock. More original finish remains on barrel than receiver, which has faded to deep patina. Colt's classic rampant pony emblem still remains visible at left receiver. This example dates to 1894. .38-40 WCF
