Description:

This “self cocking” London D.A. revolver was made by a gunmaker between 1857-1863. The revolver is maker marked.  “Gilks & Co Tower Hill London” is engraved on the top of the barrel. In addition to the maker marks there are numerous London proof marks. The revolver is an English 120 bore or about a .34 cal. The metal has a silver gray patina with some scattered black staining. The grips are excellent. The revolver is complete and original. The bore is clean and shows some scattered roughness. The nipples show very little wear. The barrel is 3 ½” long and the revolver is about 8 ½” overall. This is a rare wedge frame model. The trigger requires a strong squeeze to make the double action work and the trigger has to be nudged forward to return to the ready position after the hammer falls. I think the trigger spring adjusting screw may be stripped because it cannot be tightened much. Overall it’s a nice little Civil War period firearm (1857-1863) imported from England as were many other items especially by the South. Paypal is a payment option but only if the "To Family and Friends" option is used.
