1947 all original Francotte Brevete. A Liege-made 12 Bore Over & Under engraved by L. Smeets, engraver to the King of Belgium. Serial Number #89114.
27 5/8" Demi Bloc Acier Comprime Cap JF Solid Rib Barrels at .708 .004 & .026 (Skt I & Imp.Mod), 2 3/4" chambers.
Double under lugs.
Double cross bolt top lock.
Scalloped action back.
Double triggers.
3-piece game forend with finger grooves.
Straight hand stock at 14 3/8 x 1 3/8 x 2 1/4" over a checkered butt with slight cast-off for the right hand.
Game gun weight of 6 lbs. 14 oz.
98% coverage of very nice scroll with a lot of floral and leaf including border work and deep chiseled balls of the action on a soft coin finish by Smeet and signed.
Nice European walnut with very good color and contrast.
The face of the breech retains 98% original case colors.
It has 4 locking screws for key screws.
Wood at 95% with a few scattered light handling marks. Metal at 96-97%. Bores as new.
Good maker, attractive, great vintage, excellent engraving and wonderful handling in the game fields. Come to the hand naturally. I own some popular contemporary O/U game guns and they feel like farm implements compared to this classic piece.
