Description:
Guns Listing ID: 479002

This is an original pre WWI rifle which is in very good condition considering it‚‚s age, service, and black powder cartridge use. I am not seeing any Stevens stamps on the receiver, but they were probably the actual manufacturer. The rifle has more patina than bluing on the exterior surfaces, but no major rust or pitting except for about 15-20% of the butt plate. The serial number on the barrel (correct location of serial number on these rifles) and on the butt plate match. The receiver and bolt have matching numbers, which differ from the actual serial number on the barrel. This was common when they converted the original rifles from single shot to magazine fed. Again, the Dutch considered the barrel the serialized part, not the receiver. The action functions perfectly, and locks up tight to the receiver. The bore is serviceable, light gray, shows pitting, but has strong rifling. All in all the bore is in good condition considering black powder usage, war time conditions and age. This is a beautiful piece of history and would be a great addition to any WWI collection
