Description:
Winchester 1876 early 2nd model with exceptional options as per the Cody letter that accompanies the rifle. Manufactured in very close proximity of 5 of the 1/1000.
Has the std. 28' Octagon barrel however has a short magazine which only 258 were made. Very rare in that it has the special Vernier and Windage sights as per the letter..
Only 14 of the 45/60 caliber were made with this sight combination. It is also case hardened which has turned to a mottled silver color. The barrel retains a high percent of original bluing.
The wood is very good and retains a nice piano finish with nominal wear and handling marks. Checkering as well as action are sharp and crisp. Rifle show minimal signs of useage.
The sights all work well and oddly has the 76 sporting leaf sight as well. You won't be dissappointed in this one. I have had it in my 76 collection for several years
