Description:
Serial #214617, 12 Gauge (2 5/8), 32 inch near excellent decarbonized steel barrels with bright bores having light roughness just forward of the breeches choked modified and full. This is a Grade 1 Remington model 1889 break action, SxS shotgun featuring the low circular external hammers, and solid matte rib marked with two line stamping “REMINGTON ARMS CO. / ILION. N.Y. U.S.A.". The gun is in overall excellent condition with barrel retaining about 85-90% original blue finish thinning at the muzzle and just forward of the breech with scattered freckles, scratches and several tiny spots of surface pitting. The case-hardened receiver shows remnants of case-color in protected areas with the balance bright metal with scattered light freckling. The walnut stock and forearm are solid with scattered light scratches and bruises from years of light use. The length of pull is 14 ¼ inches to an original factory Remington buttplate with drops of 2 7/8 and 1 7/8 at the heel and comb respectively. The gun locks up tight with crisp hammer and trigger pulls. A great antique Remington 1889. Antique
