Description:
SOLD..Antique Colt 1862 Pocket Navy.. Here is a quite rare Model Colt Pocket Navy .36 caliber of course with the harder to find 6 1/2” long barrel.. Very few of this model was manufactured.. The count is said to be around 19,000 and most of these were later converted to cartridge making the ones still in original percussion quite scarce and the ones with the 6 1/2” barrel are most sought after.. This one is S/N 18127 and all matching including the wedge and arbor pin. No number on the rammer on this model as is correct..These were serial numbered along with the Colt 1862 Police model and this one was made in 1863 right in the middle of the Civil War.. The mechanics are excellent.. Crisp and tight as a new gun.. Rock solid barrel to frame fit and you have to use the rammer to push off of the cylinder face to remove the barrel.. It does not just fall off when you remove the wedge like most Colt percussion's do that have been taken apart a lot of times. Even the original nipples are in near excellent shape showing very little firing.. The gun just has no finish and is an antique gray to light brown in color. The cylinder still retains about 75% cylinder scene and all of the markings are very good and clear.. There are a couple areas of light pitting on the bottom of the frame and barrel lug as you can see in the photos.. Some dings on the top of the barrel also pictured. All the screws but the one on the bottom of the grip are sharp and not burred up from turning and some still have original blue remaining were protected.. The grips have no chips or cracks and fit perfectly. No denting on the bottom.. The bore is very nice and well above average for a percussion Colt. Has mostly bright lands with a little roughness down in the groves but no deep pitting at all and no rings or bulges. Very deep and strong like new rifling. Just a nice and honest Colt Pocket Navy Model with the longer barrel for the money.. This one has been in my collection since 2010.. I just paid a lot of money for a nicer one with lots of finish so this one has to find a new home.. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $25 insured shipping.. A little more for over seas shipping..
