Description:
Sharps Borchardt Military Rifle in 45-70 GOV. "Old Reliable" action is mechanically fine and bore is very good, shiny with well-defined rifling throughout and a few areas with very light pitting (see photo). Wood is fine with most of original oil finish and no significant dents or dings; a little chatter ahead of the forward barrel ring and roughness adjacent to the cleaning rod channel. Rust blue on barrel and action is about 50% with the remainder turning plum brown. Very light surface pitting in the vicinity of the top of the falling-block and near the lever hinge. No significant rust internally. Checkered metal buttplate, military sights. Attic condition, never cleaned and all original including cleaning rod. Nice military example of one of the best falling-block actions ever made by one of the best US makers of early single-shot cartridge guns. Antique, $50 shipping.
