Description: The Colt Agent was intended to be an inexpensive version of the Colt Cobra, a lightweight conceal carry revolver offering 6 shots of the popular .38 Special. The 2nd Issue version, like its Cobra counterpart, has a barrel with a shroud for the ejector rod. It was produced between 1973 and 1986. This one comes with a set of nice checkered wooden grips with the “pinky extension” so to speak. As with all Agents, this one has the dull matte finish. The hammer exhibits some light pitting – a little bit of Flitz polishing compound would take care of this fairly quickly. The Agent’s main competitor would have been the Smith & Wesson Model 37 which was in production at the time (the 637 we know today did not enter production until 1989, 3 years after the Agent ceased production). Compared to the 37, the Agent sacrificed at little bit in the size department (i.e. bigger) to gain an extra chamber. From a self defense perspective, the Agent was probably the better choice between the two. The Colt’s frame is beefier reducing the chance of a cracked frame beneath the forcing cone, something that aluminum framed S&W are somewhat infamous for. Comparing the Agent with a modern Model 442 (hammerless, matte blue J frame), the amount of metal beneath the forcing cone is twice as thick on the Colt as it is on the S&W. This revolver remains in excellent condition with little to no wear. There is a slight turn ring on the cylinder. Lockup is as tight as a bank vault. There is some light pitting on the hammer. There is no box. SOLD Handgun Caliber: .38 Special Manufacturer: Colt's PT. F.A. Mfg. Co.
