Description:
Original KRAG RIFLE BOWIE BAYONET’s!! 2 bayonets and 1 scabbard (Extremely Rare!!!).
You can make an offer now! If you win it, I will pay the shipping! Good luck!!!
These are Original and very rare. Approximately 2,850 of these bayonets were made and are very rare to find them in any condition.
Bayonet #1- It has been sharpened, as well as used since manufactured (circa 1900)
This bayonet is in pretty good condition for its age and where used.  An awesome piece to add to any collection.
Bayonet #1 has had ALL MARKINGS BUFFED OUT. Extremely faint mark here and there, that’s all. I know everyone want one with everything there, this one isn’t. This IS A SURVIVING, extremely rare Krag Bowie.
Bayonet #2- is in excellent condition and clearly show US AND 1900 stamped. This one has been sharpened but not buffed as #1 is. There is long term storage surface corrosion. Lug catch works well. Discoloring is “oil” from the scabbard retainer clip (inside).
Scabbard- well this is a gem to even have! It has surface corrosion which should clean up pretty well. The inside blade retainer clip is present in good condition and strong!!
They did not go with this type of bayonet as they wanted one for digging their fighting holes as well as for hand to hand combat with their rifles.  They were field tested with troops and declined as able to meet their mission needs.  Many broke in the process of use and were discarded. The remaining Bowie bayonet numbers are unknown!!
?bayonet #1 as stated, has been buffed. No identification remains. Extremely faint marking can be seen in 1 location.   I cannot get it to show on any pictures.  Sorry.  This is as is and what it is.  An extremely rare bird in the militaria field.  Remember, over 120 years ago, 2850 supposedly produced and very few known to still exist.  Get it while you can.
Check out other offering: you will find them, 1 bayonet, listed for $3,000-4,000 plus. This is an awesome opportunity to have a couple of very rare birds in your collection.

M-1900 Bowie Bayonet
Basic Information
Officially named the M-1900 Combination Knife Bayonet and Intrenching Tool, the Krag Bowie Bayonet as it is commonly known, is another variant of the M-1892 Bayonet. It was specifically designed and issued for field trials in tropical areas, most notably in the Philippines. Approximately 2500 of the estimated 2850 made were used in field trials.
The Bowie Bayonet was regarded as attractive to the eye, but unsuitable for multiple purposes and quite fragile at the tip. Few pieces of this bayonet exist in decent condition, and like many other of the Krag Bayonet variants, this rare bayonet is missing the scabbard, which is common.
“M-1900 Basic Data from Springfield.
Blade Length: 9.1 inches Overall Length: 12.3 inches
Blade Width: 1.75 inches Blade Thickness: 0.225 inches

This is an extremely rare bayonet.
Bayonet #2- As stated before is a long stored item with the proper markings and clean blade with sharpening amd dings present. Needs to be cleaned up.
