Description:
This is a rare rifle with the 1846 date. Whitney Mississippis are the ones Jefferson Davis 1st Miss. Volunteers used in the Mexican war and that is how the rifle got it's nickname. This one is i'ded as
I can make out a W scratched in the patchbox but have a hard time with the other markings as my eyes have seen better days. Mechanics are fine and the bore has maybe very light rifling or a cleaning.
There is a complete break in front of the lower barrel band spring. I think when it was taken apart some idiot broke it as there is a small wood repair behing nipple from burnout. If cut, it would be a duffle bag cut
as the forearm is part of the original stock. The stock cartouche outline for the WAT is visible but very light.  Sling swivels are present but ramrod is missing. The inspectors markings are visible with the VP at the
rear of the barrel. Add $35 for UPS shipping.
