Description: The Springfield Model 1865 is a breech-loading rifle manufactured by U.S. Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts. It is a modified variation of the muzzle loading Springfield Model 1861. It was determined that a breech-loading rifle tripled the rounds per minute and allowed the user to operate in a safer prone position. The 1865 is referred to as the "First Allin" as Erskine S. Allin was the designer of the modification. The Model 1865 fired a .58 rimfire cartridge with a 500-grain bullet and 60 grains of black powder. Approximately 5000 of the Model 1865 were made. .58 Rimfire SOLD Antique: Yes Metal Condition: Very Good Wood Condition: Very Good Bore Condition: Bright bore with good rifling Barrels: 40 Inches Triggers: Factory Stock Dimensions: LOP 13 Inches Fore End: Smooth Butt Pad: Metal Crescent plate Item Location: La Vista, NE |
