Description:
A very nice example of a tap action, screw barrel, box lock flint, pocket pistol. All the iron parts are engraved. The side panels are intricately engraved with some unusual objects, and a feather style, crown motif is engraved at the muzzle of each barrel. The left side plate is inscribed “HOWE”, for Richard Howe who worked in Colchester, England from 1810 to 1845. The right panel is inscribed “COLCHESTER”. A sliding safety locks the hammer in the full cocked position, and the frizzen in the closed position. The grip is some type of hardwood. We believe all parts to be original to this pistol. Caliber: Approx. .38 Overall Length: 5.875? Barrel Length: 1.43? Condition: Iron parts are a pleasing grey/brown aged patina, with some areas of light, scattered pitting and staining – Grip has been re varnished, some time ago with about 90% of it remaining – Action functions perfectly.
