Description:
This specific Garand is as issued by Sprinfield. It is 100% as it came from the factory in May of 1945, by serial number. The barrel date is also May of 45. All internal parts are Springfield. The op rod on all Garands proved faulty and was shorten mid-WWII. This Garand has the shorter op rod but it was manufactured that way as opposed to the armorer cut. As issued Garands are unicorns. The M1 has the inspector mark SA/NFR with crossed cannons. S.A. / N.F.R. (Springfield Armory / Norman F. Ramsey) - inspector at Springfield Armory. His marking was used November 1944 to November 1945 with U.S. Rifle, Cal .30 M1 Springfield Armory Garands for S/N's 3,272,000-3,888,081. The trigger group, op rod, hammer, gas cylinder and piston are all Springfield.There are no import marks. The flaw in this gun is the condition of the bore. The muzzle erosion is 3+ and the throat erosion mics out at 4. It does pass the go no go. It is safe to shoot but will not have the accuracy an upgraded barrel would provide. To re-barrel the gun would lower the value.
