We offer you a “Custom” S/42 Mauser 98 Mannlicher Carbine in 8mm-06 with Left Hand Stock.
This Custom Mauser started with an all numbers matching S/42 98 Mauser. It was changed into this very fine Custom 98 Mauser Mannlicher Carbine chambered in 8mm/06 caliber, which is a 30-06 case necked up to 8mm caliber. Sizing standard .30-06 brass over a tapered expander ball easily forms cases for the 8mm-06 with no fire forming required. This custom Mannlicher style Carbine was built by a local Gunsmith some time ago. The action is a 98 Mauser with an S/42 chamber code which tells us it was made at the Mauser factory in Oberndorf. The year stamping has been removed but some of the other markings although faint can be seen. It wears an 18 1/2" barrel that has a very fine bore with that shows some very light pitting. Our Gunsmith checked the headspace which was fine and test fired the rifle. The case extracted easily as it should and was clean with no issues. All the metal wears a very high gloss bluing with some areas where very light surface pitting shows through. A Timney trigger has been installed and the bolt was reshaped, polished and Jeweled. A very nice front sling swivel was used which is held in place with two machined screws through the stock for strength. Both swivels are for the narrow 7/8" wide slings. It has a sweat on style Redfield front sight with a matching receiver sight. The action has been drilled and tapped for optic use with two holes in the front and one in the rear. The package sits in a very nicely figured piece of Walnut designed for “left handed” use. The gun was test fired shooting right handed and worked just fine for whatever that's worth. The LOP over the pad is a little over 14" with the pad being in very fine condition. The stock shows just a few marks from use and is in excellent condition. Overall this is a very fine built Mannlicher Carbine that has a gorgeous look to it.
This will be shipped fully insured UPS Ground to your FFL for $60. It will be shipped in a double walled foam lined cardboard box that we have manufactured for us so that your gun arrives safe.
