Winchester 1873 3rd Model 44WCF (44-40).
This rifle is an early 3rd Model built in 1884-85.
24" barrel. Wood shows no cracks or splits. Left side of forearm is missing a piece of wood approximately 1/4" tapering out to 0" and 2" long.
The metal has little original finish. The rifle functions as it should and shoots and ejects properly. The dust cover slides properly but has a hole drilled thru the screw on the top front of the cover. The bore is dark and pitted but shows rifling throughout the barrel.
I shoot light loads of 2400 powder and a 205gr. lead bullet. It's a fun old rifle to shoot!!
