Description:
24 inch octagon barrel chambered in the desirable 44 WCF caliber. Very good bore is bright showing just a few small areas of light pitting and strong rifling throughout. Full length magazine. Metal surfaces of barrel, magazine and receiver are clean and smooth retaining about 75% original blue thinning and toning overall showing edge wear along with some mild handling marks. Markings are sharp and clear with the lifter having very lightly scratched initials “JSU”. The hammer shows about 80% darkening case colors thinning on the left side, with the lever and buttplate showing more of a mottled brownish silver-gray. Plain walnut stocks are full-fitting and remain in fine condition showing the typical scattered light handling marks. Buttstock shows extra figure and tiger striping, retaining a good deal of original varnish with the forend having a bit more wear, both showing oil staining in areas of finish loss. Sights include a sporting rear and a gold Beechs combination front. Action is smooth and is equipped with a working single set trigger. A very nice honest looking rifle made in 1884.
