It's a hard used rifle with the proper unmarked buttplate with HF inspectors markings on front band and under trigger guard. Has no barrel markings but does have the HF batch number under the barrel. Rear sight plugged and another one added. Now about 69 caliber and smoothbore. The tulip shaped ramrod is original. Lots of burnout behind the nipple and large triangle dent behind the hammer. This happens when the hammer is pulled back too far and all 1841's have this as the soldiers where in a hurry to fire their rifles. JHK is stamped under the barrel and under the trigger guard in the wood. Definitely Harpers Ferry inside and out. Early rifles pre Mexican War are very desirable and this one is fairly priced. Lockplate date is visible with pitting and top of eagle is visible but quite weak. Works fine. Add $40 for UPS ground shipping. SOLD |
