Here we present a C&R World War I Era P.08 Luger Pistol, made circa 1917 likely at the Erfurt Arsenal in Erfurt, Germany.
The “Crown over M” proof mark is the proof for the Imperial Navy on the barrel extension. The top of the toggle is marked “Simson & Co./Suhl”, though this gun was not made by Simson. Simson & Company began production of luger pistols in 1925 and continued until 1933 when the Nazi party took control of their factory.
The overall condition is good. Bright bore. Both grips are in good shape with sharp checkering and an expected amount of handling. Clear markings. The action is strong. Portions of the toggle are refinished/replacement parts. “1917” dated.
