16 Gauge European HAMMER GUN with PISTOL GRIP
Here we present an antique F. Weygand Pinfire Side by Side Pinfire Shotgun, manufactured circa the 1870s. This shotgun is nicely engraved with animal scense and gold inlay. The pinfire cartridge was invented by Casimir Lefaucheux in 1836 and is considered to be the first self-contained firearm cartridge. It enjoyed a relatively long life compared to other cartridges developed only a few years later.
The overall condition is good. Original patina. Strong actions. Good, smooth and clear bores. The stock is solid throughout with and average amount of wear (minor scuff and dents). This example is engraved and contains nice gold inlays. There is a crack in the trigger guard that remains stable. Legible markings. Damascus twist barrels.
