Description:
Winchester Cleaning Rods, 4 piece set found in standard rifles usually with 24" Barrels on the Models Henry, 1866, 1873, and 1876 (short rifles).  These rods came from the factory  in the buttstock of rifles with crescent buttplates via a sliding brass trapdoor.  Because they had a tendency to rattle and add extra weight, they were most often removed.  Today, over 95% of Winchesters are missing their original rods and they are hard to find originals.  These are the rifle sections as they are a little shorter than the carbine lengths.  If you add an extra section, it will also accomodate the 1873 muskets,  as well as special order rifles with extra length barrels.  These came standard in rifles that were 38-40 caliber, 44-40, .44 Rimfire, 40-60, 45-60, 45-75, and 50-95 Express.  These are not reproduction.  We even screwed them into another original set in my collection and they have the exact same diameter and threads.  From my personal experience, the brass tip is generally found on Winchesters that pre-date approximately 1893.  These are straight with no bends or cracks in the ferrules.  $15.00 shipping via priority mail.
