Payment Types Accepted: checks, cashiers/bank check, money order Description: WINCHESTER'S ONLY SEMI-AUTO RIFLE MADE FOR THE .22 SHORT RIM FIRE CARTRIDGE ONLY! This is a little known bit of Winchester trivia: the Model 74, introduced during the Great Depression year of 1936, which was usually chambered in .22 Short, Long and Long Rifle, was originally chambered for a short time in Pre-War guns for .22 Short only, making it the single semi-auto specifically chambered for this little cartridge and no other. After World War II rifles were no longer chambered for the .22 Short only. This example with serial number 128XXX was probably one of the last of the .22 Shorts to be made as it was war-time manufactured in 1942. This is a superb example that retains nearly all the blue with maybe a little edge wear on the extreme edge of the trigger guard etc., exc. plus wood, even the butt plate retains fine blue. This is an under-appreciated model when found in .22 Short mainly because most collectors are unaware of the rarity and uniqueness of the Pre-War Model 74 .22 Short auto loader! Would be hard to improve upon.
