We offer you a “Hard to Find” First Version Winchester Model 69 Take-Down Bolt Action Repeater .22 Rifle Mfd 1935-1937.
This Winchester model 69 is at least 85 years old and being a 1st version is a take-down. This model 69 was introduced by Winchester in 1935 and the 1st variation was only manufactured for three years. It features a cock-on-closing action, two-stage trigger with a cocking knob that doubled as a safety when pulled back and turned. The left side of the barrel is marked “MADE IM U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN, CONN. PATENT PENDING.”, “MODEL 69-22 SHORT/ LONG AND LONG RIFLE” and “WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK”. The top of the barrel and the receiver are marked with a “WP” proof. The front sight ramp which was a new design in 1935 is marked “U.S.A. PAT. 1989863”. The bolt knob is marked “SAFE / FIRE” as shown in the pictures.
It wears a 25 inch barrel that has an excellent bore with no issues. The finish shows marks, dings and wear as you can see as does the receiver. The factory original stock shows dings, marks and wear as pictured. There is one chip behind the bolt handle as pointed out in the pictures. The rest of the stock is solid with no cracks. No magazine was found for the rifle but they are readily available, reproduction and originals. The rifle was test fired and functions just fine.
