Description:
This hardcover book was Elmer Keith's only African big game hunting book. Published in 1968 in a very small edition. 167 pages with profuse color and B&W illustrations. Keith defined his view of appropriate calibers and guns for an African safari. Keith's guns and those of the book's publisher are featured. Keith did a lot of dangerous game work with a Westly Richards .476 and Champlin custom bolt guns. This title is now very hard to find, and this particular book has provenance by virtue of it being signed and inscribed by the publisher, Truman Fowler, who was quite a destination hunter himself. The book is in fine condition with the dust jacket in similar condition. Considered a collectable rarity and a piece of gun writer Americana, but it remains very useful and informative for safari hunting even today.
