The soldier is wear a blue Sack Coat and Kepi and is holding an unusual engraved revolver which looks like it maybe a pinfire. Hand written on the back of the photograph is the name Martin O’Mara of Watertown, New York and dated February 20th 1881. Below that is written “Take While in the Army in 1864”. Martin O’Mara enlisted on 8/20/1862 at Watertown, New York at age 35 and was a Private. On 8/21/1862 he was mustered into “A” Co. N.Y. 10th Heavy Artillery. He was transferred out on 7/19/1865 at Petersburg, VA. On 7/19/1865 he transferred into “F” Co. N.Y. 6th Heavy Artillery. He mustered out on 8/24/1865 at Washington, D.C. The photograph measures 8”x10” and is matted in an oval Matt. The outside frames measures 14” x 12”. This is a beautiful framed Albuman tinned photograph. SOLD |
