We offer you a “Ready 2 Go” Remington Model 788 Bolt Action Rifle in .223 Remington Made December of 1976.
Remington introduced the model 788 in 1967 and discontinued production in 1983. Some say it was cutting into the model 700 sales since it was just as accurate and costing less. I know the ones I’ve owned over the years have been quite accurate.
This rifle wears a 24 inch barrel with an excellent bore with no issues. The metal on the barrel and receiver are in very fine condition with no issues. It has the original factory stock that the last owner painted with a texture style finish. The factory butt plate is still on the gun and there Iis a crack on the right side at the end. It has a very nice trigger and functions just fine. On top is mounted a BSA Panther 6.5-20x44 scope with a duplex reticule and an adjustable objective. The scope is in excellent condition and works just fine. The left side of the barrel is marked “REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC. ILION N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. 223 Rem.” Near the receiver is a “Proof Mark XI D”. XI is the date code which is December of 1976. The right side of the barrel is marked “Proof – REP - Proof”. The left side of the receiver is marked “A6135181 - Remington / Model 788”. It has one factory magazine with it and it is marked “223 REM”.
Many of our estate firearms have been stored for some time and a thorough cleaning and inspection is recommended.
This will be shipped fully insured UPS Ground to your FFL for $55. It will be shipped in a double walled foam lined cardboard box that we have manufactured for us so that your gun arrives safe.
