Description:
Very nice .22 caliber pocket revolver that is factory engraved by Whitneyville Armory. This seven shot .22 caliber revolver is one of the few 3,500 produced, and fewer were factory engraved! The nickel brass areas are incised with intricate scrolling foliate and geometric patterns. The inlaid grip is an iridescent and polished pearl, which would be eye-catching when peeking out from a pocket or a holster. The rimfire spur trigger and hammer still articulate. The octagonal barrel contains a sight and the maker mark; somewhat worn but reads "WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY CT. USA. / PAT. MAY 23 1871." In 1798 Eli Whitney, inventor of the cotton gin which revolutionized America's agriculture, established a firearms factory that produced some of the first standardized and interchangeable parts in guns. Some losses to nickel-silver plating, especially near hammer / chamber. Light surface scratches. Engraved maker mark is faint, but somewhat legible. Hammer and trigger articulate.
