U.S. model 1798 Whitney Connecticut contract musket in overall good condition. Only 112 of these contract muskets were delivered to the First Company of the Governor's Foot Guard, replacing their issued Brown Bess muskets. Metal is in the bright with smooth surface oxidation. Wood is in great condition with minor handling marks present. Side plate is marked ""Connecticut"". Action holds tight. A great example of an early contract long arm.
