Description:
This centerfire cartridge pistol is a Smith & Wesson Model 1913 chambered in .35 S&W Auto. This is Smith and Wesson's first semi-automatic pistol manufactured to compete with Colt. The Model 1913 has a number of safety mechanisms including a small knurled manual safety located on the backstrap which when rotated up made the pistol safe. A second safety is a small grip safety designed by Joseph Wesson located just below the trigger guard on the front strap. Joseph Wesson also designed and patented a cross bolt lock which disconnects the bolt and spring allowing the weapon to be easily loaded. The bolt lock stud can be seen on the left side of the receiver. Approximately 8,350 Model 1913 pistols were made and production ended around 1921. The bluing on this pistol is in fairly good condition, with some loss at the muzzle and some scratches as can be seen in the photos. It comes with a single magazine.
