Description:
++++SALE PENDING++++ This is a beautiful Remington Model 721 fitted with a 24 inch tapered barrel, 4-shot non-detachable magazine, smooth American Walnut pistol grip stock fitted with a checkered alloy buttplate and vintage QD sling mounts/swivels, a factory serial-numbered bolt, factory blue finished, and chambered in .30-06.  This first year production 1948 vintage (notice serial number stamped on the inside of the receiver - see picture) rifle is in excellent original condition, retaining 95% of the original factory blue finish on the barrel, receiver, and trigger guard.  Only the first year production rifles were serial-numbered on the inside of the receiver in the left-side rail, as the serial number was moved to the outside left-forward area of the receiver by 1949.  As this is a 1st year gun, it is not drilled and tapped on the rear bridge for a scope mount.  This is correct as they were not factory drilled and tapped on the rear bridge for the first 1.5 years of production.  These early guns were drilled and tapped like many of the pre-WW2 Winchester rifles, where only the receiver ring was drilled and tapped and the rear left side of the receiver was drilled and tapped for a receiver sight.  To find one like this that has not been altered is a very hard thing to do.  The original stock is in excellent condition overall, retaining almost all of its original finish with only some very minor assorted handling marks visible.  The original buttplate fits well and retains 60% of its original black factory finish.  The bore is clean and mirror-bright with sharp rifling throughout, with no visible erosion, pitting, or damage of any kind.  The action on this rifle is smooth and precise, and all of the controls are in perfect working order.  This rifle should function just as well today as the day it left the factory 74 years ago in 1948!  Sorry, no box or paper-work.                                                   PRICE:   $950.00              We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, dealer of fine firearms since 1974.                    PH. 859-276-1419         We Buy, Sell and Trade Firearms & Knives.    Have a Individual FirearmFirearms Collection, or Firearms Estate to sell, let us know, we can buy or consignment sell it for you.                   NOTE:  No additional fee for a Credit Card payment.
