The drum is in very nice untouched condition. You can look into the vent hole to see the manufactures label on the inside. This is a full size drum that measures 15-1/4” tall x 16-1/4” across. The tin body is in excellent condition with only a few scattered shallow dings. The body surface has been painted a royal blue. All through drum is worn in places approximately 80% of the paint remains. The front of the drum has a portrait of George Washington done on canvas and then cut into an oval and applied to the drum. The portrait was set into a golden oval frame painted on the drum. The portrait is well executed and has wear consistent with the age of the drum. Both wooden hoops are present and bear the original red paint which has worn over the years but is approximately 80% present. The top hoop shows heavy rim wear. Also both heads are original and in good condition. This is an excellent example of a Civil War period drum. SOLD |
