Description:
US Krag-Jorgensen Model 1898 .30-40 Krag bolt action US Service Rifle, dated to 1901. This rifle features a typical military style rifle design, with a full length walnut stock, blued finish, and a unique bolt action mechanism. The magazine can be opened to accept cartridges, and when closed, will feed the rounds up into the action. This allows for fast and easy loading, which was an appreciated feature at the time. The rifle is in overall excellent cosmetic condition, with some signs of age and honest wear, however it appears to have been well cared for, very small areas of minor corrosion (mostly the buttplate) and much of the original finish remaining, including visible cartouches on the stock. "1917" is cut into the stock, as shown. Please note that the safety lever is missing, however the rifle is functional without it. The action is glass smooth and solid, and the bore has some moderate roughness, but looks to have life left in it. Please refer to the photos prior to purchase.
